Mathematics Olympiad

From May 6 until May 9, 2010, the national round of the 49th German Mathematics Olympiad will take place in Göttingen, Germany. In two exams with 6 hard mathematical problems in total, the 192 participants, i.e. the best young mathematicians from age 13-19, will have to proof their knowledge.

A special event after second exam will be the

  • 1. Göttinger Mathespielfest (1st Math Games of Göttingen)
  • Saturday May 8, 2010
  • 14–17 h

in Göttingen's city. School teams and "normal" inhabitants will challenge the participants of the Mathematical Olympiad. This time, the competition will include such omnious tasks as "arithmetic rope skipping", "building bridges", or "Connect Four 3D".

M³ - MatheMonatMai

The MatheMonatMai (German for Math Month May) is the German equivalent of the American Math Awareness Month. The MatheMonatMai is a project by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, the Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung (DMV) and the initiative "THINK.ING". This year, the main focus of the activites concentrates on elemetary and high school students.
