Intention of Digitization
The Göttingen Digitisation Centre (GDZ) currently works at providing digitized lectures of the Göttingen Mathematics Bequest online. Here you can already see some examples.
Informationen
The Central Archive for Mathematics Bequests was established in 1992, based on an agreement between the Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung (DMV, German Mathematical Society) and the Göttingen State and University Library.
Its goal is to provide a place where mathematical bequests are professionally preserved, organized and made available.
The archive is ready to accept mathematical bequests from any place, if there are no other parties ready to take the responsibility.
This archive is built upon the rich inventory already present in Göttingen (e.g. the bequests of C. F. Gauß and B. Riemann) and the "Mathematiker-Archiv" started by Felix Klein.
Since 1997 bequests and additions are recorded in a database; it also contains short descriptions of all bequests kept at the SUB Göttingen.
This archive is not an on-line archive, but an inventory of mostly handwritten papers available in Göttingen.
If you want to look at particular papers in our reading room or to order copies, please send a request to the Departement of Manuscripts and Rare Prints at the addresses given below.
The recording of the mathematics bequests is funded by the Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen (Academy of Sciences and Humanities).
