The theme for this year Mathematics Awareness Month, April 2009, is Mathematics and Sports.
Mathematics Awareness Month is held each year in April. Its goal is to increase public understanding of and appreciation for mathematics. Each year a national theme is selected and theme materials are developed and distributed.

The Math Awareness Month is held by the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics (JPBM), a collaborative effort of the American Mathematical Society, the American Statistical Association, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
